how can invisible energy make things visible?

A reflection of light itself, in all the forms that humans have learned to harness. Light is, at its most elemental, a coherent wave, and laser light is humanity’s purest attempt to replicate that. This music video combines humanity’s love for creation with our immense curiosity.
The project moves through several visual worlds: generative particle galaxies created with TouchDesigner, footage of antique manmade light sources, and a laser show programmed in Pangolin Beyond. The visuals shown on the televisions are oscilloscope drawings, which turn the waveform of the music into visual shapes.
I wanted to use the contrasting musical genres in the song to pronounce the different kinds of light shown. From light as an elementary wave and particle, to a scattered yet organized computer-generated galaxy, to early human-made filament light, and finally to coherent laser light. This project ponders what it means that we can recreate something so fundamental, so perfectly.
